He was born in 1951 in Denain (Northern France). He discovers photography at the age of 15 and obtains his vocational training certificate en 1975.

After some time as a photographer, he devoted himself to a long career among children with special needs. As a special education teacher, (he teaches photography to education teachers to be), director of a specialized home for children with important special needs, he finishes his career as general director for an association. After 40 years of such childhood devoted work, a period which did fascinate him, reaching retirement age he decides to become a photographer again.

« Photography was my first occupation, it will be my last : after all this time, my emotion in the laboratory, when I watch the image coming out of the developer remains intact. »

He established his creative lab in Clermont Ferrand, 4 place de la treille.

« This photo premises is also used as a meeting spot as well as a place devoted to temporary exhibitions opened to other artists. To me, this stands for as many opened windows onto the world of creation and particular universes ».

He also owns a secret spot in Creuse, where the quiet and serenity of the place allow him a return to his own roots.

The human element, though only a little present in his work stands as the mainstay of his photographic theory.

« Man is never so much present when he is absent... »

Throughout all his images, it's man's place that he questions :

                               - whether he vainly attempts to tame ponds and lakes

                               - or is in quest for a pace where he might exist

                               - or follows his ancestors trails in the Moroco desert

                               - or discovers the sea in pre-historic times for the very first time

                               - or brings to light carbon photography after inventing the pencil

                               - or tries to explain his sensual approach of the world through 3 haïku verses.

« You are the human part throughout my work »

« As Gerard Freitag has written : our welcoming tiny cracks allow us to open ourselves to the sensible world as  well as beauty. If we experience sweetness, if one finds romance in a photograph or painting or sculpture, this is only throught our rarely shared often hushed and even at times totally secret intimate feelings. »

If an image becomes a feeling passer it then has ground for existing.»

Each of his series emanates from a beforehand written photographic purpose.

When the scheme is under way, he  departs in the hope of an image encounter. During the trip, he doesn't achieve any "image" not being linked to his plan as far as he is concerned, this has nothing to do with discipline, he simply can't do it.

Once back home, it's inside his lab that everything occurs...

He esssentially works on argentic photography and this with a 20 *25 (toyo chamber) or a 4*5 (Linhof) or a 6x6 (Hasselblad camera). He makes his products himself , develops, takes his prints from negatives and even frames each of his images... all this in his Creuse house.
